The inside corners are crisp but as you can see the blade does overrun the corners a bit. It had no issues cutting through the 1/16" basswood and you can see in the video where the square came loose well before the cut was done (old mat on my part). What I was not expecting was the blade to start doing cuts in the opposite direction about halfway through. The blade lifts and turns it the corners which is what I hoped it would do. So I think Cricut is thinking that it is going to get more abuse with the Maker.īelow you will find a video of the make cutting a 2x2" square out of a piece of 1/16" Basswood sheet. The B Blade clamp is entirely made of metal. Also, there is more "metal" in the explore. All material selection is done through the design space software. The first you will notice is that there is no material selection dial. Just a feeling I need to put in on a set of scale to be sure. The Maker is about the same size as the Explore series, however, it feels to me to be quite a bit heavier than the explore. I have finally managed to get it unpacked and try a couple of things with the knife blade. I managed to score a new Maker at a substantially reduced price just after Thanksgiving.
